The equestrian statue of Tsar Kaloyan in Varna was created in 2007 after winning a national competition and was officially unveiled in 2008. The monument features a striking bronze figure of the tsar on horseback, positioned atop a pyramidal pedestal. Each side of the base is adorned with detailed reliefs illustrating pivotal moments from Kaloyan’s reign, bringing history to life through sculpture. Standing at a total height of 8.1 meters, the composition is a powerful tribute to one of Bulgaria’s most influential medieval rulers and a prominent public landmark in the city.
