bronze Sculpure

Statue of Aleko Konstantinov

Built after winning a national competition and unveiled in 2016, the monument is located on Vitosha Boulevard and creatively integrates one of the street lamps into its composition. The bronze statue depicts the famous writer standing upright, “leaning” against the lamp post, with a suitcase casually placed beside it. The sculpture stands on a low pedestal, with the figure of Aleko Konstantinov measuring 2 meters in height. Above, at a height of 3.5 meters, five signs are mounted, adding a distinctive urban character to the piece. The monument captures both the spirit of the writer and his most iconic character, Bay Ganyo, symbolizing travel, satire, and the Bulgarian identity.
